the sound of summer

Len, "If You Steal My Sunshine," (1999)

Secretly one of my favorite 90s tunes!

cute collars

Is there anything more twee and adorable than a peter pan collar? The collar is named after the costume actress Maude Adams wore in her role as Peter Pan in 1905. Since then, it has become a women's fashion item and is particularly associated with little girls' dresses.

I always think about the outfits Mia Farrow wore in Rosemary's Baby as the epitome of peter pan collar cuteness.

The collar as a fashion accessory can be seen on the red carpet, decorating the necks of Hollywood's best-dressed, and, in my opinion, most endearing young actresses {via}

evan golf's spring/summer 2011 (so what if it was last year!) is super cute, using the peter pan collar and ribbon bow ties to create a preppy and quaint kinda look.

my kind of exercise

This is probably what I look like when/if I go to the gym (never). These are images of model
Pat Ogden at a "slenderizing salon" in New York in 1940. Using rollers and massagers on certain body parts was thought to burn fat. Reduce leg mass while making a sweater!

This pic is what I look like at the end of a workout, or a heavy night of drinking.

blue ribbons 'n bows

I have an obsession with bows. After this post I seriously began thinking of how adorable it is to tie a blue ribbon in your hair, and thought of all the places I've seen one before. Here is a small selection!

fast-bender, part 1

Oh Michael, looking into your eyes will always melt me. Fuuuuuuuuu.......He looks so innocent here, like, "Oh hi, you just caught me offguard, I was just about to write a grocery list."

Here he looks a lil bit more cheeky, like, "hehe, you caught me, I'm a big fan of HBO's Girls."

I feel like Fassbender would be so much fun to hang out with. He's for sure the funnest one at the party. Here he's just, like, so happy to be drinking with his pals. He's like, "Haha bro, she'll never fall for that line, lemme have a go a' it!"

Bicycle anger

In Montreal, we have a pretty great bike system. Bike paths run from one side of the city to the other, and everywhere in between. As soon as the snow melts, I de-rust my hibernating bike and don't put it away again until November. I wouldn't choose any other mode of transportation. There's only one thing: cars and pedestrians tend not to know where the hell to drive or walk, and have a particular knack for getting in my way.

The other day I was cycling through Westmount when I approached Green St. I went to slowly bike through it and noticed two women walking across the street in front of me. There was a huge gap between them so I biked through, but the woman who I biked in front of (may I just say that I didn't cut her off, I simply - and safely - biked past her in an effort to cross the street and avoid traffic), turns to me as I pass her and mutters, "Cunt!"

Are you serious? I'm more pissed she chose to use my least-favorite word in the whole world to insult me. From one woman to another, why use such a degrading and misogynistic term? I couldn't hold back so turned and did the childish thing of yelling "Bitch!" back to her. But come on! Have some respect for your fellow cyclists! It totally ruined my day.
